2024 GMC Sierra 2500HD vs. 2024 Ford F-250 Super Duty

If you are in the market for a rugged truck, the 2024 GMC Sierra 2500HD is hard to beat. But you might also be looking at some similar competing models, like the 2024 Ford F-250 Super Duty. What exactly differentiates these trucks from one another? Mauer GMC offers this comparison.

2025 Sierra 2500HD

Power and Towing Ability

The 2024 GMC Sierra 2500HD packs immense muscle, with a 6.6-liter V8 that generates 401 horsepower and 464 lb-ft of torque. The other option is a Duramax® diesel 6.6-liter V8 that produces 470 horsepower and 975 lb-ft of torque. This is the engine you’ll want when it’s time to tow, as it can pull 22,500 pounds when properly equipped.

The 2024 Ford F-250 Super Duty also comes standard with a 6.8-liter V8 engine, but its numbers top out at 400 horsepower and 445 lb-ft of torque. This makes its towing strength a bit lower than the GMC model.

Off-Road Prowess

The 2024 GMC Sierra 2500HD can be an off-road beast. It unlocks its full potential with the AT4X trim, which has been designed to go nearly anywhere on solid ground. In addition to four-wheel drive, this new GMC truck comes with an assortment of off-road features, including:

  • 35-inch Goodyear® Territory MT tires
  • Electronically controlled locking rear differential
  • Multimatic™ DSSV dampers
  • Skid plates
  • Factory-installed 1.5-inch suspension lift

While the 2024 Ford F-250 Super Duty is certainly no slouch in off-road conditions, none of its trims can compete with the ATX4 trim. You won’t find the suspension lift or the Multimatic dampers on the Ford model.

Tech Amenities

In addition to its ruggedness, the 2024 GMC Sierra 2500HD is also tech-savvy. Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™ and a user-friendly infotainment system are all standard. All trim levels but the Pro trim boast a large 13.4-inch touchscreen display that includes Google built-in support. Several features can be added, including in-dash navigation, a Bose® sound system, and satellite radio.

The 2024 Ford F-250 Super Duty also offers Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™, but its available touchscreen only measures 12 inches. It also does not offer the weatherproof MultiPro™ audio system that the Denali Ultimate trim of the GMC Sierra 2500HD includes.
